Introduction

Our Purpose

First Presbyterian Church exists “to glorify God by demonstrating the transforming power of the gospel of Jesus Christ in our community and around the world.” Our passion is to worship God and to make Christ known through evangelism and missions. Our motivating theme is “Not for ourselves, but for Christ,” and our focus is on nurturing our personal relationship with Christ and on reaching our local community and the world for Christ.

Our Authority

We believe the Bible to be the word of God, being inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error. We are committed to the Reformed faith as set forth in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a denomination committed to worship, nurture, outreach, and the ministry of the Word.

We are governed by the Book of Church Order of the PCA which comprises the Form of Government, the Rule of Discipline, and the Directory of Worship. We are led by elders who view their primary responsibility to be servant leaders and to shepherd God’s people.
