Fellowship

One of the benefits of being in a larger church setting is the diversity of members, which provides for rich fellowship and prepares us for our heavenly family “from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne.” (Revelation 5:9) As in any family, you will find people just like you and people who are quite different, all coming together as a beautiful tapestry which makes up the Body of Christ at First Presbyterian Church.

Our desire is that you would find your place here as you develop sweet friendships that refresh and nurture you, intentional friendships that hold you accountable on your spiritual journey, and loving friendships that help fortify you during the storms of life. We desire this not simply for the sake of friendships, but that God might be glorified in you, and that you might be strengthened by His Spirit to love and serve Him (Ephesians 3:14-19).

You will find fellowship in small groups, Bible studies, men’s and women’s groups, activities for our youth and children, church-wide dinners and gatherings, missions conferences, retreats, and many other activities including our worship services. You will find fellowship in wonderful ways as you serve together with Christ’s people.

The congregation is divided into “parishes” which the elders shepherd and oversee, with deacons and women representatives, through visitation and social functions. The Women's Ministries provide special opportunities for women to meet each other and to serve the Lord. Men have special opportunities to come together, including gatherings, a discipleship-leadership ministry called Quest, and various other opportunities to serve and have fellowship together.

Ours is not a “program-driven, success-oriented, excitement-addicted church culture,” but a God-focused body of sinners who, having been saved by the undeserved favor (called grace) of the God of the universe, desire to reflect His love to others. You will find people connected in the true biblical understanding of community who encourage, pray for, hold accountable, and help you on your journey to know God.
