Making disciples among all the nations is the command of our Lord with a promise of his manifest presence (Matthew 28:18-20). Through evangelism and discipleship, we will work hard to “present everyone complete in Christ” (Colossians 1:28). Our style of evangelism is relational, as we seek to stimulate an enthusiasm for the gospel in our people, which overflows to those around them in their everyday lives. We seek to adorn the gospel’s message with Christ-like deeds of mercy (Matthew 9:3-38), and by serving others (Mark 10:42-45).
This means that we must desire to foster a culture within First Presbyterian Church of discipleship and outreach in order to reach those who do not yet have a personally transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our willingness to love, give and serve is encouraged by opportunities to minister in a world in desperate need both physically and spiritually. We love giving financial aid to missionaries and mission agencies both locally and overseas. We hold our annual global missions conference, and pray regularly for our missionaries. We also send teams of our own members to numerous parts of the world for short term missions projects each year throughout the year.
