During the opening of each morning worship service, Pastor George Robertson has been giving a brief explanation for why we do what we do during our worship service:

“My burden as your pastor is to lead us in responding to God in worship in a biblical way. We tend to think that the Reformed approach to worship is to tell people all the things they cannot do, but that is a woefully inadequate view. The Reformed perspective on worship is that we are given the joyful liberty to do everything prescribed in Scripture. My perspective is that we must study the Word, the Psalms in particular, with a view to responding to God in the same way we see the God-inspired authors of the Bible doing.

“Everything we do in our worship is an attempt to express this joyful privilege of engaging in a biblical response to a gracious God. Toward that end, I will comment on a different element of our worship service each week that we might engage in it more meaningfully.”
